My daughter is taking one of her long luxurious baths (with stuff that was sent to me too! )

Yanno?

I used to love the stuff, but my son ruined that for me.

I got pregnant, and suddenly couldn't stand the smell of the stuff.

So Jack Daniels took a back seat.

And ever since then? I like a blended whiskey. Much smoother, and the axe in my forehead the next afternoon is so much easier to remove.

The good witch, fresh, but still quite wet
From soaking in Katrina's tank-
Mounts once again, her bristle-broom
And  rides-back  to her blue-page home...

Quote I, broad strokes of  "Graves"
My story here, to fortify:

*"What need have I of magic charms—
‘Abracadabra!’ and ‘Prestopuff’?
I have but to wish, and that is enough.
The charms are vain, one wish is enough".

And so the sorceress
Comes home to perch:
A falcon once again
That flew above and spread
Her wings of faith, above the masters
Dread (Her having been )(what seems to them)
A long-time gone..she screams
Out like the bird, attentive songs
That gather up her coven....

Quoting Graves again:

*"My master pledged my hand to a wizard;
Transformed would I be to toad or lizard
If e’er he guessed—but fiddlededee
For a black-browed sorcerer, now,” quo’ she"

Crystal salt has dried, upon her locks,
That short ago fell 'cross, red-troubled eyes;
But now above the fiend the falcon flies,
Her soaring-shunning out its press of  misery;

Raising  pen of voice makes  pain subside,
And so she sends out calls to loving friends
The ones that would not rest, until attest
The fiend had fled, and once again
(With smiling gnome, upon her back)
The good witch flies
(Sending borrowed arrows from his pack)

Graves,  quote I,  here thrice:

*“Let Cupid smile and the fiend must flee; "

Excerpts from " Love and Black Magic" By Robert Graves (1895-1985)

You couldn't have left a finer message, ice, than you did this morning, right here. Good, indeed.  Sorceress  - surely, as she draws us to her like cats to cream. She is indeed our serenity, and our soul's light. She gives more than she knows.

And it is so very good that she is finally home!

Active?  You want ACTIVE?  Well, I’d love to help ya out there our beautiful (and so missed) serene one, but there’s so much activity HERE that I have no time or energy to see to activity THERE.
You see, that would require time to sit and think and write in a sensible way and well, time is in short supply these days, at least the kind to spend on me.  Me, me, me.  The before now unchallenged king of all things selfish and all things ME, I suddenly find my days stuffed full of all things about everything, except me.
To tell the story quickly (as I must, there’s pancakes rising on the stove), I’ve become the proud parent of a 7 year old with school to attend, homework to complete, soccer balls to kick, shoes to tie, clothes to wash, teeth to brush, scrapes to kiss, bad dreams to comfort from, skate boards to repair, neighborhood kid’s squabbles to settle fairly, storybooks to read, Yu-Gi-Oh cards to sort, ears to wash (inside and out), lunches to pack, hurt feelings to soothe, oh and don’t forget about his cat, must be in by 9 o’clock to cuddle up with as he sleeps.
Yes, the little boy who helped me plant tomatoes in the garden, has now become my legal charge and I am determined to do a better job than those who came before me.
He deserves a home, safe and dependable, hugs and I love you’s given out freely, someone who cares for him above anyone else and a world without words like “jail” and “probation violation”.  He deserves to be my day’s activity, whether on the soccer field or in front of the TV.  He deserves to be happy and secure and loved.  He deserves to be 7, without a care in the world.
So, until my charge is done, he will be my “activity” and hopefully grow up to know just how lovable and precious he is.  I figure, it’s the least I can do.  After all he’s my best buddy and I want to be his.

And Duncan? I am just beaming at you. You must write me immediately with details of this. Seven, huh? A wonderful age...aw.

Now I think I'll go read the Sunday Paper as I drink a leisurely cup of coffee and listen to Dean Martin. (That's right, Dean Martin. What do you care, hmmmm?)

Swoosh.............Here I am for a second to:

a)  Give Dunc a high-five!     Great move not only for him but for you!

b)  Like I told you on the phone earlier when you called, and our dime ran out   I am moving, decorating, and growling a lot.  Like Duncan I simply don't have any time for me, me, me right now.  Between waking up to little people staring at me waiting for their Gramma to wake up , and then going home to pack some more, I am exhausted as normally I don't do mornings.     Love you Serene one, yes I do!

Yanno Karen...

I am a fixer personality..and it was pure misery to not be able to help.  I wanted to pitch in and help clean the house...haul laundry to a laundromat...whatever I could do.

So for my part, I kept mostly silent and inactive because someone I care about was hurting and I couldn't help.  I am sure that is how a lot of us felt...

and it makes me so happy to see/hear that things are getting better...one day at a time, right?

Anyway, let me say this about that Duncan...I don't think I have been more proud and happy for someone in my life..he makes for one hell of a great parent..and probably should've raised mine...lol

Other than that...I have been doing my Financial Management class (yes, it's kicking my behind..I have no shame) and playing with the Grand daughter (pictures due to pick up next week!).

So there it is...you wanted an update and that is mine..

love you lady.

Hugging Susan, and smiles for Duncan too.

Duncan's gonna be fine. Anybody who will tape a tomato plant back together has enough patience and stubborn nurture to a tribe of comanche!

and chuckling, we were interviewed by the FEMA guy yesterday. I'm not sure what for, shrugging, but I did ask him, "Just outta curiousity, what is the purpose of FEMA?"

He shrugged then and said he didn't know--he just processed the stuff.

It's a confusing time. The insurance guy was great tho. He promised me my own team of roofers. wicked grin

(Too bad it ain't spring, I love when they get all sweaty and take off their shirts revealing all those "wife-beater" undies.)

Makes 'em look like a serenity crew I tell ya?

"What--for me?"

Reminds me of the summer that I was living at my sister's home and her neighbours were having some sort of renovations done (never thought to ask what type)... anyway, those young muscular men were so hot and sweaty, it was only out of kindness and concern that I walked over with a pitcher of Kool Aid for them.   *sigh*

Karen...make sure to let us know ALL the details of the....roof progress

ROTFL!!  That is SO true about my sister taking the roofers a pitcher of Kool-Aid..
I still can't believe she did that. But, I think they drank it all, and almost fell off the roof trying to get to her...I mean, um, the kool-Aid.

Yup..there's just something about those sweaty roofers...*sigh*
