ok i've been listening to music "forest harmony, songs of the earth" to help me relax and unwind this morning..er (not that anyone should need to unwind first thing in the morning) yes and was hoping to enjoy the peaceful sounds of a forest...but instead, it has put me in a somber mood and made me feel desolate and gloomy and crappy. and sigh tell me what helps you to relax and unwind and feel...er ..balanced? somewhat. humph! m |

The one or two days a week that I get to unwind and relax is right here in front of the computer, with Celtic music playing, and uninterrupted time to write. It doesn't matter what I'm writing...on the stories, on poetry, in journals... now if I could choose a few other ways, it would be visiting with good friends, going to musicals or plays, and laughing long, and hard, and a LOT. I have some music that is similar to yours; a lot of listening to it and how it affects my mood is where I'm at, at the time. Is it sunny out? Or gray? Are you on the road or at home with others who are demanding your time? One of my favorite CD's to put on when I'm alone for a long road trip is, of course, Phantom of the Opera. I end up conducting the orchestra...and it's a good thing I'm alone because no one should ever be subjected to the "high" notes. ![]() Hugs, little one! |

i find a way of balancing out my blues is by listening to the blues. John Lee Hooker has a way to settle me and get me smiling by the end of it. always works ![]() |

God, music all depends on my current mood, like if I am seriously depressed and sad . . . Joni or Simon & Garfunkel just are going to make it worse . . . that is time for Janis . . . then sometimes you just need those sad tunes to make you feel better when you're not depressed, you know? If the sad music makes you feel better, then you are on the right track. If the sad, makes you sad . . . time for the rock and roll. I agree up there about the Dead, too. All of these: Vivaldi "Summer" Bach "Air" Beethoven "Moonlight Sonata" I love James Taylor at those (blah) times, he always makes me feel good. And I do know what you mean about needing to unwind in the morning, that is my worse time. I love the night. |

With my scedule, relaxing is somethng I am saving up to do when I'm dead. However on the very few occasions that I have a few minutes to do absolutely nothing except unwind I: Listen to music (depending on whether I need relax or release): Mozart- The Magic Flute, Requiem 12, The Marriage of Figaro J.S. Bach- Tocatta and Fugue in Dm, The Brandenburg Concertos (Yes, Sue... I mean "AIR", and I would thank you to get out of my brain lol), Violin Partita no. 24 (as played by Andres Segovia) Beethoven- Senata 24 Opus 14 (The Moonlight Sonata), Symphony #9, Symphony #5, Fur Elise Vivaldi- The Four Seasons (complete) George Clinton- ANYTHING Stevie Wonder- Any of his early stuff (Especially from Songs In The Key Of Life) The Doobies, Pablo Cruise, The Beach Boys, etc. ALso, my professional wrestling training helps to ease the stress, and make things more even (must be geting my butt kicked in so many different ways LOL) The number one thing I do when life is getting to the breaking point is cuddle with my daughter on the couch and watch Sponge Bob ("Yellow, absorbant and porous is he...") In the wooden chair |

Almost any light classical music or if in the mood, the entire album of The Moody Blues, Days of the Future Passed or Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon or The Wall. Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we're here we might as well dance. |

The one thing that truely relaxes me, and puts me into a real state of chillatude,,,,would have the average person searching for asprin and earplugs,,,,I turn up the stereo as loud as I can get it, and jam around the house to my favorite death metal band,,,,GWAR,,,,gets me in a good mood. No one really cares,,why should I? |
