I think I may have won a contest to have the most UNUSUAL dinner conversation on Christmas day. I spent the weekend with my son-in-law's family..his dad and his dad's girlfriend (from Germany)..his two sisters and one brother-in-law..and of course my daughter. The father gave his girlfriend a 'female urinal' at the dinner table as a gag (no pun intended) gift. It seems she subscribes to the theory that urine has healing properties. She said she knew someone who had a 'sty' in their eye and nothing would work until someone told her to dab it with a urine soaked cotton ball. And it worked! (or so she claims) Then it became the discussion of why urine could be used as a curative...some people drink it! (At this point (I was ready to go sit in the car but since we were staying there and everyone else was serious, I thought perhaps it was just that I was being too queasy! They even searched the internet and found a book written about the subject! Immediately after dinner the girlfriend put the urinal in her car for the times when the urge hits her and there is no where to stop....all I ask is that I NOT be the person behind her when she's driving AND using her Christmas gift. Life is stranger than fiction sometimes! |

A long time ago, there was this woman on David Letterman (I think) who was demonstrating age-defying beauty tips. She insisted that drinking a quarter cup of urine staved off gray hair. *pause* Obviously, by my recent pic, I wouldn't know that to be a fact. But I have to chuckle here, as this is the second time today you've nearly rendered me speechless. ![]() |

I heard somewhere that urinating on one's feet in the shower is supposed to keep one from getting athlete's foot. I thought it was a gag thing on the radio, but maybe I was wrong. |

Well I didn't know there was a container made specifically for such purposes, now I won't use my cup ![]() My grandfather used to save it in a big bucket, then he put it all around the circumference of his garden to keep away the critters - well, I guess so! Gee, hope Ron reads this, maybe that will help with his bunny problem. LOL On a serious note though - in India this has been practiced for years and this is a good link as to why. I do know some East Indians that practice this but I think I will pass, thank you. ![]() http://www.shirleys-wellness-cafe.com/urine.htm As for that being dinnertime conversation - next time I might change the subject if I were you. Welcome home m'friend - missed ya. Man, there's no place like home is there? |

D'ya know a while ago, I think in Roman times (you know, when there was some civilized aspect to society before we lost it all in the middle ages?), people knew if someone had diabetes (yes, diabetes was known of, in a rudimentary way, at that time) by tasting the urine (or blood) of that person? If it tasted sweet, voila- you've got a diabetic. Yum... nursing school has taught me more about urine than I ever thought I'd need to know. ![]() |
