Ok Colin, I almost posted this in the Alley, but figured it wasn't really a complaint or rage.... So I'm posting it here! ![]() Did anyone watch the TV program last night called "Conspiracy Theory"? The topic was "Did we really land on the moon"? They disputed facts for the entire hour and I have to say that after watching that, I too wonder, did we really land on the moon. Those who felt that we didn't land on the moon had some terribly strong points. Example: In many of the photo's taken on the moon, there are several discrepancy. Some of them included.... Shadows not lining up in the same direction, yet the only light they had was sunlight. So how is it that there we several shadows cast in many different directions? Several Photo's of the astronauts and the lunar landing machine had the sun directly behind them, yet the photos showed amazing detail when they should have been only silhouettes. There was no evidence of any crater created from the blast of the lunar machine. Pictures clearly show this. Yet, experts says that as light as the moon's surface supposedly was, there should have been some sort of blast marks. Even the feet of the lunar lander had no dust on them what so ever. There were several other points made, but here is the one that amazes me the most. If there is no atmosphere on the moon, there would be no wind, Correct? Then how is it when they erected the American flag, it was waving in the wind? Oh I could go on and on, but I'm just curious if anyone else saw this? And if so what do you think? I don't know what to belive now. ~Sheri "The things that come to those that wait may be the things left by those who got there first" |

I didn't see the show but it was the topic of conversation in my Biology class. I am just wondering IF we didn't the how did they scame so many people without getting caught? |

The flag was 'wired' in that position! And the lunar landing module had lights, that could account for the extra/different lighting/shadow situations. |

Presenting another vp - instead of asking whether or not we landed on the moon, ask yourself why they would spend countless dollars to fool people into thinking we had. There are space shuttles. People have seen them taking off and heading into space. Keeping a secret in one country would be bad enough. (With the amount of people it would require to pull off such a scam, you're bound to have someone who would talk. Area 51 cound not remain a secret for examle...) But to involve other countries as well... It's harder for me to believe that so many people could maintain silence, even in view of their differences, than to believe we've traveled to the moon. You fly in airplanes, right? It's just another step to hit space and one more to the moon. We have satellites in space. (Unless you think it's another wholly wonderful technology that is also being kept a secret... even by the normal people who communicate with and build them.) The moon, again, is yet another step. In my op, I think we did. I BELIEVE we did. The requirements for it to be a scam are so much as to be absurd, and hey... we all know people are the worst at keeping a secret! ![]() C |

As far as the scam goes..... It's funny that Chris mention Area 51. They claim that that is where much of this "scam" took place. As far a people keeping quiet.....well, they also claim that several of the people invloved had suddenly died of "mysterious" causes. Three of them at once in fact. But that is also a small amount of people when you think about how many people would actually have to be involved for this to happen. Then again. Look at the secrets the military keeps from us. The flag was wired to wave? And as far as lights go...Ok, that could explain of a few of the photo's, but, how do you explain the fact that the lunar module was so brightly lit? If the sun was clearly behind it...how could it light it self, and cause other shadows on rocks etc to be cast in the other direction. Another mention made was by the man who designed the cameras these men used to get the pictures. He claims that they were mounted on their suits and there was no way for them to actually use view finders etc. due to the way the suits were designed. So how is it that all these pictures are so perfect.... Yes Chris, I realize that we have satellites in space, I know they are there. But that still has nothing to do with actually landing on the moon. I also realize that millions of people watched as the shuttle took off into space. I am aware that this is in fact happening. I'm just stating what I saw and heard, that's all. I'm not saying that I believe it was a scam. I'm not saying that I don't. I'm just saying the fact remains, there are some strange things about it all that was brought to my attention last night. If I were to sit here and list everything that was said and shown on an hour long program, I'd be here all day typing. That is why I was wondering WHO saw the show and what they thought. ~Sheri "The things that come to those that wait may be the things left by those who got there first" |

LOL MY son watched that last night. He kept yellin for me to come watch but I was too busy. ![]() But think, how did we get satellites up in space and rescue the Russians up there, if we've never been there? Oh, and Chris...you have a point there, but look at Kennedy's death? How many people covered that up and kept quiet? Our government is good at that sort of thing. quote: quote: Ever strolled along the beach during a full moon? Unless you were alone, chances are being able to see clearly was the least of your concerns. A full moon can be very bright. Sometimes, even bright enough to cast dim but discernable shadows. Now imagine that moon as being roughly eight times larger, with a much much higher albedo (reflects light better), and there is no atmosphere to refract that reflected light. Imagine that and you'll have a good idea of what the astronauts saw from Luna - except, of course, the "moon" constantly hanging over their heads was called Earth. And from where they stood, it never sets. Even during an "Earth eclipse," when the moon was directly between the sun and Earth, the huge difference in size would mean only a small portion of the light from Earth would be blocked. Essentially, the bright side of the moon goes from bright to brighter, but is never dark. I watched about ten minutes of the show and, at first, just laughed. I turned it off, though, when I felt myself actually growing angry, a typical reaction when I feel our collective intelligence is being grossly insulted. Garbage. Pure, unadulterated garbage. |

Ok, Once again, I'm not arguing the fact that we have satellites orbiting around in space. I'm just wondering about the fact that were presented on this show. Actually landing on the moon! Ron, you do have a good point, however, being a photographer, I know this these kinds of photo's are hard to achieve with existing light. Be it, moon, earth or what ever. Even on the brightest day here on earth, you still need flashes and other lights at times to achieve such great detail in a photo. I'm so sorry that I have insulted any one's intelligence! And I'd still like to know how they were able to achieve such perfect pictures, in 1969, with camera's that were mounted to their suits, that they were not even able to look threw a view finder????? And I still wonder about the "waving flag" Acire....you crack me up! LOL ![]() I'm so thrilled to know that I'm being treated as if I were stupid or something! All I had was a question and some points that were made that I thought were good points. ~Sheri "The things that come to those that wait may be the things left by those who got there first" |

Sheri, I never meant to suggest you were stupid or that you were insulting our intelligence by asking questions. I was talking about the show. To talk about shadows and light and photographic details, and not even mention a huge glowing orb hanging in the sky is just plain deceptive. And, yes, even on the brightest days we use ancillary lighting to get good detail (especially on the brightest day, actually, since contrast is the real problem). It's called fill lighting, and the good photographers will typically use a large reflective device. I can't really think of a better or larger reflective surface than the Earth. What you think of as natural lighting is very, very different from what you would see on another world. The flag was explained already. It wasn't a piece of cloth that would drape, but was wired to stand upright at all times. The only "waving" done was by the hand of the astronaut as he twisted the pole into the ground. As for cameras being mounted to their suits, I frankly don't know. Didn't see that part. But I would be reluctant to take the word of one person that they were mounted, and I would be VERY reluctant to take it as reported by a show that is obviously not reporting the facts without bias. That's really the biggest problem with sensationalistic reporting - once you lose trust in what is being said, everything become suspect. |

Yanno for me (an X-Files JUNKIE to the end!) I love to watch those sort of shows, but as far as believing them? Hmmm dunno...I think back in '69 faking a moon landing would have been alot harder than doing it now (ie computer technology etc) so I will stick to my belief that the astronauts are really great guys who wouldn't be in on a lie like that one! ![]() ~H |

Irie -- funny you mentioned the advancement of cameras at that time. Have you seen the type of outerspace movies hollywood made at that time. It's so fake. Or even the type of special effects they used in movies during those years. If the landing on the moon is not real...How was their technology in movie making able to create that kind of show? I don't think they had the capabilities of making a film with that kind of special effects during that time. well, just a thought So long as men can breathe or eyes can see, So long lives this, and this give life to thee." Sheri! You have nothing to apologize for! You brought out some good points. There was a movie based on this premise about 15 years ago..I don't remember the name of it right now. I think there will always be that element of people who think the Government is out to pull the wool over our eyes. I think they could/can/do sometimes. But like acire said, we just didn't have the ability at that time to create something like that. Look at the first Star Wars movie - which was touted as 'ahead of it's time' - then look at the latest (with most of the cast computerized)...no comparison. ![]() |

I think the movie was called "Capricorn One" It was about a faked landing on Mars. They filmed the whole thing in a government studio or something. And Brad, great idea. We need to go back sometime. Ok, for those of you that don't know. . . "Wizard's First Rule" is from a book of the same name by Terry Goodkind. It's the first book of a wonderful series called "The Sword of Truth" In each book, the main character, Richard Rahl, learns one of the rules about being a wizard, since he is one, and basically has had no training in being a wizard. . . Wizard's First Rule People are stupid. Explanation "People can be made to believe any lie, either because they want to believe it's true, or because they are afraid it's true." (Zedd from Wizard's First Rule) Wizard's Second Rule The greatest harm can result from the best intentions. Explanation Sometimes, doing what one thinks is right will cause problems or harm to come to him and his friends. ![]() -------------------------------------------------------- To the world, you may only be one person. But to one person, you may be the world. |

Well, just to end all this controversy let me say this - I was there!!!! and yes, you all landed on the moon. Actually, I was living there quite peacefully for many years, alone, until those lying astronauts enticed me back to earth with those naked pictures of Marilyn Monroe - sigh! Should have known better - should have just listened to Marvin and blown up the earth with my space modulator... If I were you, i'd stop worrying about petty issues as such and start worrying about the REAL conspiracies - like what, exactly, is in that hot dog you just ate? Muwahahahaha!!!!!!!! Michael |

Acire, I'm an alien! If anyone wants to come to outer space with me the next time I am due back at my home planet of Exmalion to check in on things, give a yell. I freely admit to being inconsiderate now and again (not really rude, per se) and I am definitely arrogant... but I would be severely insulted if anyone labeled me "stupid". ...hmm I guess this isn't really news to anyone is it? ![]() p.s. Addressing Ms. Cor - about that Denny's thing, you promised you'd never tell!!! Besides, at least I didn't eat one of their breakfasts - YUK!!! So far as Chris, actually we were both there on the moon, (arguing over who arrived first of course), and therefore the rightful owner of all zoning rights, mineral rights, etc. when those freak astronauts showed up. Chris was completely woooed by them and their PIC's, and though I really held limited interests, in the end it was Chris convinced me earth women might be fun - sigh!!! He's a dog alright - I can still see him wagging his tail feverishly and giving me those puppy dog eyes - what a chump... Oh, and speaking of PIC's - where's that new one of Chris at anyway?
