I went to cook and got peed off cause we were out of fettucine, my favourite pasta. I then proceeded for reasons unknown to sing "We're out of Fettucine" to the tune of "you've lost that Loving feeling" by the Rightheous bros. I did this for about ten minutes straight laughing hysterically as i cooked a mix of spaghetti and vermicelli which brings me to my next point. Does anybody realize what a great scam pasta is, all pasta is the same except for varying degrees of thickness. The difference between spaghetti vermicelli and angel hair is so ridiculously minute that it's laughable. This has been a peak into the mind of one who hasn't slept properly in a good solid year..sighs.. [This message has been edited by Aenimal (07-19-2003 04:14 PM).] |

You think you've gone crazy..try spending a day with my grandparents. umm I know that phrase up there too well as she haunts my nightmares . . . pea soup - dont even go there and yea - you do Even worse than the spaghetti rip-off, how about the actual measuring device they sell to gauge how much pasta you should cook? You know, the plastic bar thing with open holes for different types of pasta. They sell those along with a free bracelet that ionizes your dna so you will never feel pain and always be young. I was going to say something about the socks . . . |

If a person overcooked their spaghetti noodles till they were a little mushy(which of course, I have NEVER done) ...could they smoosh it all into a ball...roll it out with a rolling pin and then make it back into noodles such as lasagna.....lay them flat to dry and start dinner all over again? Oh, my head hurts. |

Sue I agree with those measuring things..besides suggested servings are a crock. Oreo suggested serving apporx 2 cookies. Who only eats two oreos and what's approx mean, you only eat half of the second or yu nibbled the edge off a third? Chris thats such a silly thought why don't you try to keep this thread on the obviously serious topic at hand..grins Liz you found a turtle on your Porsche? I didn't know you drove and in such style Gem what a horrible song who makes youlisten to that crap |

Ok LMAOO now . . . look on a bag of chips and it says 3 billion calories for 6 servings which is equal to 3/1/2 chips . . . I have no idea what I am speaking of . . . oh the Oreo's . . . more like six of them in a bowl of ice cream And the way I was taught to cook pasta from the long lineage of my ancestry all the way back to County Cork, you grab a bunch of pasta - crack it in half and stuff it in the pot. If some of it is still sticking out, then wait until the other half gets soft and then turn it over. Us Irish dont have vats to cook our pasta in seeing as all we eat is corned beef (that is a whole new thread in itself) What do you have a bunch of corner nibbled oreo's lying about?
