A few people discovered the new Mature Content section on Christmas Eve (as noted in this thread), but as I explained then, their excitement was a little premature. I had hoped to officially open the section on Christmas, but the programming changes necessary to make everything work turned out to be more extensive than I imagined. Is a present a day late still a present?

Our original Adult forum has now become an Archive (of sorts). You won't find a "New Topic" icon to post new poetry, but the "Reply" icon is still very much alive. With over 4,000 poems and nearly 34,000 posts, it's certainly one of our largest archive forums and covers a VERY wide range of material.

The Mature Content section of pipTalk is starting out with three new poetry/prose forums and one new Discussion forum. The descriptions are pretty self-explanatory, I think, but I'll be more than happy to explain or expand as necessary (in the new Grok This discussion forum, I would suspect?). That same MC forum can be used if you'd like to discuss additional forums for the future.

It's hoped, of course, that MC will provide our Members additional freedoms to explore areas that have, in the past, been relegated to the original Adult forum. Although that forum has served us well in the past, it was both growing too full AND too disjointed, with far more mature themes than anyone anticipated four years ago. The new MC forums, I hope, will keep things better organized so that readers can find what they want.

It is also hoped (rather strongly) that the new forums will help maintain the family-oriented integrity of our other forums, especially Open Poetry. The border-line posts that weren't quite Adult but not really family-oriented will now have a home to welcome them, while still making sure those who don't wish to read mature content can browse freely with little danger of being surprised by themes or language they find distasteful. I hope all of our Members will respect the rights of those who still want a place where the whole family can gather.

Like our original Adult forum, the Mature Content forums can only be accessed by specific request. This makes sure no one "accidentally" explores material they didn't want to see. However, unlike the original Adult forum, that access no longer requires you to email Sharon or another Admin and wait for a response. There is now an option in the Member's Area to automate the process. If you already had access to Adult, you now also have access to all of the Mature Content forums.

I expect MC to become a very popular addition to pipTalk (especially, I think, the new Insights forum) and hope to see a lot of you there.

Thank you Ron. It's going to be interesting as we find our 'C' legs around the new forums.

Thanks again Ron...

You have to be content with your maturity.

I am like Salty ... lost lost lost ... can't find the new "Mature Content" forum.

Thank you Vlarynes for the link ...

BUT ... isn't this room going to be listed on the main page with everything else?

I love the entire idea of this new area but please ... can we make it so that everyone who wishes to find it can find it?

There is no such thing as a stupid question! I think the GROK forum is for discussion and the others are for poetry/prose.

At the top of the Main Forums page, scroll down in the VIEW window to find the 'mature' link.

Great idea here Ron! I'm looking forward to reading and posting in this section, where I won't have to bite my tongue.

Ron, once again I shall ask ...
Isn't the "Mature Content" forum going to be listed on the main page with everything else?

To be perfectly honest with you it would not have occured to me to scroll down in the VIEW window to find the 'mature' link because I had no idea of the changes that were taking place.  I imagine there are "others" like me that are not privy to all the vast hard work, changes and goings on here at Passions.

Must "Mature Content" be stuck behind scrolled windows?

Providing a more visible link to MC will require some design changes. There simply isn't room in our menu for another link without those changes, and putting a link at the bottom of the page wouldn't be much of an improvement over the View dropdown. I'm in the process of a complete redesign, including all new software, and I'm honestly not sure investing time in the old design is worth it.

Sanctuary, of course, has always been accessible only through the View dropdown. How many people didn't know that? Are we limiting ourselves by keeping some things too hidden?

You guys tell me …

I like the hidden rooms. Those who post regularly and love PiP usually find their way there.

Janette!!! Don't do that! It just means you were focused. A lot of members don't have the time to run up and down the PiP halls looking for forums in all the nooks and crannies. But now that you know...come on in!!

THANK  YOU,  RON, FOR THE CHRISTMAS  GIFT!!!!

I found "the gift" before I found this thread. I always have been kinda nosey...looking around to see what I can find.

Well, actually one of the guys (can't remember if his user name was "rascalx" or "lilrascal" ??, but he was rascal something), said he had posted a poem that he thought was pretty good and he couldn't find it. So, I went looking for it, too....HeeHee!! Anyway, I found it...LOL

a vast improvement
worthy of praise;
a welcoming venue
to my amaze.
the birth of a place
to place poetic verse.

my appreciation
expressed.
one day
i will immerse
into it, vested

i need a place
to place myself

there will be a wealth
of exchanges, rearramged.
the spirits of poets
will be changed.

.........

thank you
