Since I wrote that other poem about my late husband, I felt the need to write another one. I just posted it today on Open Forum. I'm hoping that writing about my feelings about him will help me to get on with my life with my love I have found now. I am so thankful that Gary is so understanding and patient with me about all this. I guess that's what real love is... Right? I thank all of you for being patient with me, too, and for all your loving support through your compassionate comments to me. ![]() |

Writing it out does not always soften the blow, nor does it eliminate the haunting memories. But it can help ease the suffering and put everything into a new perspective. And there is never a need for guilt, which only intensifies suffering. Your other husband would have wanted you to be happy, and would probably be the first to bless your union with Gary. |

Dear Ethel, I hope that writing about this, for you, will help bring peace. When my daughter died in May and I had that long plane ride to Seattle...I took my laptop and wrote non-stop all the way there. Those poems mean so much to me. I don't know how it feels to lose a spouse but I know how it feels to hurt in the loss of a daughter and a father. For me poetry has been very healing. I hope it proves to be the same for you. Courage and peace to you sweet girl. ![]() If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again. ![]() (big hugggssssssss) Oh Ethel, writing helps me so much, and, is honestly, what has saved me. One of my earliest poems is also one of my most successful for instance, and it is related to a tragedy that deeply changed me. It is titled "Good Morning Cameron" which I wrote dedicated to a wonderful friend who sadly died in a head-on collision on Independence Day up on Lookout Mountain! What made him so special was the fact that when he first started school with me, he never did his homework, was stubborn, and very disruptive. Then, after the first half of the year, he made an amazing comeback. He did all his work, was friendly to everyone, he even helped others with certain problems and sympathized with those who were feeling downtrodden. He has become an inspiration to my old school Denver Academy, which is one of the best private schools in the nation, and they have dedicated a special award annually for a student who shows a big difference and a heart and soul of gold. I cry every time I think about that, and I talk every now and then with his family. I wrote that poem for Cameron's family, and it ended up winning 2nd place in the entire state among young poets. That achievement has inspired me to write on! ![]() Writing I believe is a virtue, and as my words have touched so manys hearts, I will never waste a second! Sincerely, Noah Eaton "Underneath your clothes there's an endless story..." |

Ethel, My suggestion would be to write and write until there are no more words on the subject. I think you'll be amazed at the healing that comes to you. I find that writing to get feelings out is a God-send for me. It has gotten me through some really rough times. Hugs, Marti Let our love circle the world and |

I agree... there are some that think that poetry should only be written for the audience, but I'm among those who believe that it should be written for the writer. Keep writing, it will help heal you. ![]() Peace I leave with you, My peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you.--Jesus Christ |

Thank you, A Touch Of Voice. I feel the same way. I'm finding that it really does help to "talk" to friends about things that are hurting. ![]() Ethel |
