I was eating some Chinese food last night (surprise, surprise) and even though I don't eat the fortune cookies I always crack'em open to see what they say. Last night here's what mine said:

"You have the unique ability to find inspiration in defeat."

"Your options are only limited by your fear."

"Go with your instincts."

For once those Chinese guys told me something useful. lol What are some things you guys have seen in your fortune cookies? Weird or not..

I once got one that said something like "You keep good toilet." I'm *assuming* that means personal hygiene, but how exactly is that a fortune?! They must've been asleep at the presses. LOL

Remember though, fortune cookies only make sense if you tack on '...between the sheets.'

Alicat beat me to it- we usually say a more concise 'in bed' though.

When we would have Chinese food at my old High School, they would have fortune cookies that weren't really fortunes. Come to think of it the weren't even really proverbial statements! Some of the most... lackluster fortune cookies were:

"Help keep America drug free! It takes you and me!"

Or

"America is the land of the Free!"

"I am not alive enough to kill myself." - Mary Ipal

You got to have Chinese food for lunch at your High School?
I'm so jealous. Just to give you a clue of my food...Every monday it's "Pizza and corn"....or you can just the deep-fried corn dog. yum yum....

Anyway, we do that as well...add the little "In bed" line at the end....Thats always entertaining to go out to eat and have a few drinks with friends and go around the whole table reading fortunes and laughing hysterically at how well the "in the bed" line can fit some of the fortunes SO ironically well.

Baby, if yr fortune cookie were true with that 'in bed' tacked on, I'm afraid I'd hafta disown you.

So let's say it doesn't always work that way, hm?

And since most North American Chinese food is deep fried, I haven't touched the stuff since before I was 8 years old (makes me horribly ill), so I haven't seen a fortune cookie message in longer than I can remember.

But I do know that even my completely messed up friends never thought to add 'in bed' to their fortune cookies!   So is it an American thing, or a certain age-group thing, or what?

Seems I'm always too young/too old/too weird/too far north to understand what's going on.

Is this what you wanted me to be?

I didn't know about it either, Lori, so I don't think it's an "American" thing. Silly.

Sometimes they can fit ironicly well. haha

~Been doing this for ages. And from our last Thai dinner:

'You are broad minded and socially active,...in bed'.

'You have many friends when you need them,...in bed'.

'You have unusual equipment for success, use it properly,...in bed'.

'Tomorrow will be an extraordinary day for you,...in bed'.

Ah, what fun. . *Peace.

That could get mighty strange mightly quickly ...

You are a type who loves the rain ... in bed.

Lucky numbers 7 21 2 ... in bed.

"A fool speaks. A wise man whispers." in bed?

NO wonder I don't do that. It goes from cutesy to nonsensical reeaaaal fast.

Then again, I don't eat out much.

my boyfriend and i had the most surreal messages in our fortune cookies, I got 'a bicycle stands on it's leg because it is tired' and my boyfriend got 'a man with a clipboard and a suit can get anywhere',
very strange but had us in hysterics and we will always use that chinese restaurant in the hope that we get similar messages

I found one today, from a while ago...it read "You will see the pyramids in Egypt." Add the phrase "in bed" to it, and you get something REEAAALLY strange!

I'd give you some examples of fortune cookies I've opened, but I don't regularly eat Chinese food.

Sincerely,
Titus

I had Thai last night. Sweet noodles with chicken. Green curry with coconut milk, chicken and eggplant. Roast duckling with mushrooms, sprouts, ginger and some unidentified spice. And plenty of Thai iced tea to wash it down.

Heaven!
