It's easy to laugh when you look around and realize how absurd many things are. The latest is the following, with a little background:

I lent a computer game of mine (really old) to a friend. Unfortunately, the game is sooo old that I no longer have the instructions. We ended up finding them online ... in French! So, of course, we ran a translator program over it. This is what came out the other end:

Nothing to announce. Play of tactic to the turn by turn, UFO has still what to allure followers. Your mission: to protect planet from an extraterrestrial invasion, only that. Equip your men-at-arms and equipment produced by your scientists and engineers then deploy your guy vis-a-vis the aliens. Help of hostages, interception of aircraft, infiltration of bases: the missions are varied. "Hawkins Attention, has a small gray there with... Hawkins...Answer good blood... scritch... " The reproach: why one cannot play two? Sniff, that returns to me still today sad. In more recent competition never was too with the height: Incubation or W40K. It is necessary to go up in Jagged Alliance, and still the adversaries are insane at the point to be thrown under your shootings. My preference in solo always goes in UFO, his/her little brother.

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!

Thrown under shootings,
Mike

Oh, you should see when German lyrics are tossed into the translation grinder. It's best to actually know the mechanations of a language and translate it bit by bit, because translators on the 'net don't know grammar and don't know that certain words have dualities, so they can't pick the one that makes the most sense.

Yeesh, yr silly.

if only, if only it were so.

I love that translation. The reproach: read this guy vis-a-vis the thread.

I like the fact that there are the words scritch and sniff.

Most definitely. Though tweaks can be nice every once and again.
