Voyage Away

I

I, loth to stay, with a sort fared,
from the shore embarked, and repaired,
hastening a-sea through the dark,
with but one star above to mark
prayed unto Love with words made brave
for ready wind and tidy wave.

Higher fairness attending calls
us to behold, and shape its walls.
We feel its beck about the sea,
beyond, yet ours of health wealthy.
Its roundings across great lengths flow
and plight an end to our sorrow.

Each womans breast with more sweat stung
Each man's with more impatience rung;
We plied the oars, we ploughed the main
stirring the dusked watery plain
that sure seastar and sole guiding
of light yet lent to us sliding.

Yet dared once look back at our lands
We, saw bane-torches bloody hands
tossed on some final living barks
and warlike fire devoured with sparks
that made our sights to cringe and turn
our minds to retch and stomachs burn.

"Confined whom may have changed their mind
that chose not to come with our kind
We gave them chance, they had a space
to prosper this torch and this pace,
Yet despair not I promise we
Shall come back and save our country.

"We will yon land our spirits feel
arrive to in our weighty keel
and there raise walls, and rear living
all fruitful for future giving.
Gird Nobles framed for soul saving,
and soon send this way bold braving.

"Heed in the truth our star is fair
and nature speeds us in her care
The water's path is tempered here
as heaven signals where to steer
Sustain the sail and drive the ways
our course now puts for better days."

Addressed they are filled with a might
and main and strenghten fast the flight
The winds inspired, the tides of blue,
enhearted blood, made brave our crew
with vigour, fear, and hope to nurse
to come a cure and cease a curse.
