Lizzie, I hope this little poem explains what a lilac is: A Lilac for Lizzie The lilac bush grows thick and tall And peers above the garden wall Inflorescences of white Or shades of lavender’s delight From hardy shoots the lilac drapes Like little purple bunch of grapes Each grape is but a little bloom And each gives off a sweet perfume Majestic, tall, the lilac trees That gracefully blow in the breeze And fill the air with lovely scent That makes my spirit feel content A hundred lilacs at a time Luring bee and butterfly I want to cut and gather each But most are well beyond my reach The full and rich lilac flower Leans from its weight at end of bower Please step aside, I’m on my way To gather up a lush bouquet The fragrances will fill the room With scent of lilac to consume Lavender in varied hue Here, Lizzie, a lilac just for you Elizabeth Santos [This message has been edited by Elizabeth Santos (edited 04-25-2000).] |

Oh Liz, your email isn't working for me! So, lemme say what I gotta say now!: Dear Liz, Thank you so much for this delightful poem describing a lilac that you wrote for me!! I love it so much!! I am gonna print it out and keep it forever! Now I feel as though I have seen and smelled a lilac and it's lovely! That was so sweet of you to do that for me. I'll never ever forget it! This is the first time someone has written me a poem.....how special that it should be from the hand and heart of such a brilliant poet as you are. Wow, I am just totally over the moon. Thanks a million!!! Love and hugs, Lizzie *Many hugs and smiles to you my friend* "Poetry is the true expression of my soul, it is my ultimate means of communication. It is my rainbow of delight." |

I just got back from my walk. I admired many lilac trees, dogwood trees, azaela bushes, tulips and hyacinths. Spring is indeed my favorite time of year. Your poem is lovely, Elizabeth! Denise |

Lizzie, I'm so happy you liked the poem. I can smell the lilacs from my living room as I write. I have three enormous bushes in my back yard. I love it when they bloom at the same time as the bridal wreath, but that doesn't happen every year. What a wonderful bouquet the two make together. You certainly honor me with your words, Lizzie, and the fact that you would keep this poem. I appreciate your reading and commenting to so many of my poems. you warm my heart Love, Liz Swamp Faeryie, Gosh, I had a hard time spelling your pen name. I'm already a terrible speller to begin with! hehe. Thanks for your kind response Pepper, Wish you would come up here and enjoy them with me. Miss you John, The wind must be blowing your way. Enjoy it, because the lilac doesn't hang around that long Denise, Isn't it beautiful right now? Now all we need is a little WARMTH! Thanks, dear Lynn. I appreciate your comments so much, because I admire you poetry so. You are the talented one Liz |
