Cowering in the corner Scared of every sound Waiting for storms to pass Hoping no one was around Rain hitting the windows Shows my face like a mirror Tears running down it Eyes wide with terror Then I heard footsteps Coming towards my way Bracing myself for evil I could only pray Let me have the strength To help me through this day Realizing then the footsteps Sounded in a different way The clouds parted slowly Sun started to shine A man walking towards me Made me straighten my spine Reaching out a hand to me Smile resting on his face "You've nothing left to fear" He said, "Let us leave this place." Trepidation filling me Showing on my eyes The kindness on his face Made me want to cry Slowly I took his hand He closed his grasp round mine For a moment everything was still It was like he stopped time Then we moved away From the pain in the past He showed me a love So great it will last Victor was my champion That dark day long ago Lending me his strength So I want him to know His love has brought happiness Deep within my soul Don't know what the future brings Or what tomorrow holds Whatever road we travel down Or if our paths should break I'll take him with me In my heart, I will be okay His love has shown me so Much more then I could ever show I don't know where to find the words But I want him to know Without you in my life, Victor My skies would still be grey You saved me just in time, m'love And helped me see today. MAY THE ROAD RISE TO MEET YOU, MAY THE WIND BE ALWAYS AT YOUR BACK MAY THE SUN SHINE UPON YOUR FACE THE RAINS FALL SOFT UPON YOUR FIELDS AND, UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN, MAY GOD HOLD YOU IN THE PALM OF HIS HAND Irish Blessing |

Well what to say to a poem like that, Who would have thought that a small act of kindness could touch some one so deep. I love you too. May the light of day always shine during the darkest of nights. |

BWA I love the way this poem moves. I think it is written so well that it can only be conveying a real truth. To be able to appreciate a truth in this way is wonderful. Jon |

I know this is in the back logs and hidden away, and most people won't come back to read it again ... But I've got to say that later on.. some of my poems are targeting a Victor, and yes, it's the same one. He died a few years ago, and I'm still trying to deal with that. But, what he did for me, will never be forgotten, and Victor, no matter where you are, you're in my heart. I miss you and I love you. ~BWA |
