The Soul’s Harlequin The mask of parenthood is on my face Severe, strict, without compassion But I feel a tingle crawling up from my toes Slowly finding its way up my spine Changing into high waves of pleasure Towards my mouth, where crystal bubbles Burst into the air, spreading sounds of a grin Inviting for more, larger bubbles The soul’s harlequin is playing Twinkling stars appear in my eyes And rainbows explode alll around me While the sun bursts out on my face There’s no escape from this escapee I’m lost in seas of laughter Roaring laughter fills the air Conquering all emotions but one The soul's harlequin is playing Munda The assignment in the Poetry Workshop was "extended metaphor" this time. Oh dear, I think I accidently wrote a free verse ! |

Munda, Free verse, extended metaphor, does it matter? This was good no matter what it was meant to be. Lots of smiles. Joy |

Munda, I don't know what extended metaphor is, but I still like this. I see three rhymes, BTW. ~Gene |

Sometimes it's hard to keep in mind what we set out to do.. And sometimes it's those times we accomplish the most. Very beautiful... MAY THE ROAD RISE TO MEET YOU, MAY THE WIND BE ALWAYS AT YOUR BACK MAY THE SUN SHINE UPON YOUR FACE THE RAINS FALL SOFT UPON YOUR FIELDS AND, UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN, MAY GOD HOLD YOU IN THE PALM OF HIS HAND Irish Blessing |

Munda, Excellent job, and I noticed your free verse and laughed when I got to the end and saw you did also. I know you and your wall with free verse, see concentration was somewhere else and it allowed you to express without the rhyme as much as usual. I knew you could master anything you put your mind too, just because you are you. |

Extended metaphor? Free Verse? Great words I know..these are they. May your roof never fall in and those beneath it never fall out. Irish proverb. |

Thanks everybody for reading and replying. For the ones who don't know: I tried to write free verse for the Workshop and seemed unable. Now I wrote one accidently. |
