Lifestyle I asked, 'Is there hope?' 'No,' you said, 'None.' With those two words my life-force left, extinguishing the sun. I asked, 'A chance? hoping you would light up the dark. 'No,' you said, 'Not a glimmer or a spark.' You said, 'I do still love you though, I need you to be here.' You said, 'I never will desert you, please don't fear.' You said, 'You just don't suit my lifestyle, so there you must remain.' You said, 'It's all my fault, not yours, so you shouldn't be in pain.' You said, 'You are special, not like any other man.' You said, 'I'll always love you, in every way I can.' You said, 'I know I'm selfish, but there you have to stay.' You said, 'Love me from a distance, there can be no other way.' When I think back to the early days, back to the very start, You said, 'The wheelchair doesn't matter, I love you for your heart.' You said, 'We'll overcome all things that threaten all our dreams.' But now, you've changed your mind, at least that's how it seems. I know that I should make the break and leave you to your life, I know that my emotions are causing us both strife, But, I made a promise to always be your friend, I cannot break that promise so will stay here 'til the end. Until the day you tell me, 'Go, my time with you is through,' I'll pretend that I am happy then wish you fond adieu, I'll lavish on you compliments and always hold a smile, Whilst inside, the only words I'll hear? 'You don't suit my lifestyle.' May your roof never fall in and those beneath it never fall out. Irish proverb. |

Oh my, this sounds to sad, yet many things said in life can manage to stick so well in ones mind whether it be heartbreaking, or something very kind. You wrote this well, it evoked a feeling of sadness in my mind thinking anyone could feel this way. |

Another artist at work here , working with an arrow in his heart. beautiful poem John. Jack From day to day, nothing so surely defines the quality of our lives as the unwavering affirmation in the eyes, in the voices, in the presence of our friends. It is through them that we truly begin to know ourselves; and it is their affection that assures our dignity and worth. - Robert Sexton |

JTC--Wow......if I was allowed but two words in response to this poem, they would be "powerfully sad." This is wonderfully written, Cat; I just wish the inspiration wasn't such a painful situation. This poem is beautifully written and terribly sad Cat. It's disheartening to know that "love" comes, for some, based on what is seen with the eyes rather than what is felt with the heart. ...Give me the strength to walk the soft earth, a relative to all that is.... Thank you all for your kind words, but mostly your kind thoughts Jack.....An artist? I think not. An arrow through the heart? Perhaps. |
