Last night I slept with a stranger, Yet no sense of excitement, Or of danger. There was no touching, Or no feeling. No sensation to send the senses reeling. No beating heart, Or blood a'pumping, No grasping sheets, Or bodies jumping. No tender kisses or any passion, Seems those things went out of fashion. Where did they go? Were they ever? Is it time to split and sever? I never slept with strangers all my life, How can this Stranger be my wife? May your roof never fall in and those beneath it never fall out. Irish proverb. |

I'm sure every married couple experiences this from time to time. It's time to relight the flame when that happens! Good poem, John! Denise |

Cat--Another wonderful, intriguing poem. I continue to enjoy reading your work and look forward to your next post. "Unto thine own self be true, and it must follow as the night, the day; thou cans't not be false to any man."---Shakespeare |

I do hope this was just a poem that came to you without the true essense of being estranged from your wife. You did a great job with it and the emotions come through real strong which makes me fear it could be true, and if so I send my blessings to you that things will get better, but I do pray you were playing with creativity here. |

It's amazing how two people once so in love can become strangers over time but, as your poem points out, it does happen. A sad and lonely place to be. ...Give me the strength to walk the soft earth, a relative to all that is.... Black Eagle Oglala Sioux holy man |

John, This sure hit a familiar note for me. How sad that some relationships reach this point. Hope it is salvagable for you if this is an actuality for you.
