I've got a friend who's dear to me But he cannot go to school For he's not at all human as you could see If not seeing him wasn't a rule... When I get up real early so late I won't be He just pulls the covers on tighter Oh how I wish that could be me Sleeping 'til the day gets brighter... When I'm at school he goes for walks Down the fiery leaf-covered ways Around the house for three or four blocks And he seems never to wander astray. The trees are burning with nature's fire Pyrotechnics of Mother Earth He watches the leaves pile even higher And knows the cold winter makes way for new birth. When spring comes around, the flowers bloom And the trees have new leaves for shade The world seems refreshed; winter's dark gloom Has passed and new life is made. My friend enjoys nature more than I can Most animals usually do; I'd be more appreciative if I were not man But I did not have the option to choose... Walking along seashores quiets my mind To listen to rushing of tide With the setting sun; this is where I find I can thank God I'm alive. It's different for people who aren't like myself And a lot of those there may be; But find that tranquility, it's good for your health See for yourself--don't trust me. One day I arranged to stay home for a while And take a long walk with my friend. Seeing life everywhere made both of us smile At the miracles that nature does send. |

A walk along the shore is also my most favorite thing in the world!! Beautiful poem! Denise And slight is the sting of his trouble Whose winnings are less than his worth; For he who is honest is noble, Whatever his fortunes or birth.~~~Alice Cary, ~Nobility~ |

Beautifull... I really enjoyed this. Who was your friend, may I ask? MAY THE ROAD RISE TO MEET YOU, MAY THE WIND BE ALWAYS AT YOUR BACK MAY THE SUN SHINE UPON YOUR FACE THE RAINS FALL SOFT UPON YOUR FIELDS AND, UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN, MAY GOD HOLD YOU IN THE PALM OF HIS HAND Irish Blessing |

I really like this poem, I also love to walk along the shore on the rare occasions when the holiday is beside the sea! Being landlocked is quite sad actually! I love walking though...anywhere I can.
