labour of love tucked back behind overgrown shrubs and bushes and trees was this little cottage right off a dirt track three miles from a tiny village near the edge of the highlands of Scotland it was love from the moment we saw the sturdy rock walls the rotting thatched roof and the wakening spring flowers obviously once a much loved home even after neglect and abandon it held it's grace and charm still for a tiny sum we claimed ownership of our lifetime dream all the while suffering laughs and derision for buying "Widow March's Hut" behind their backs we laughed too for no amount of money could pay for what we had just bought home after months of work and many callouses and splinters a beautiful haven was created a place for babies and grandchildren for ponies and baby chicks the garden, was left a bit wild still in honour of the cottage's past while along the far fence a profusion of trumpet vine wrapped it's tendrils over everything in it's path throughout, wildflowers grew in a mish mash of hue and texture gaily painting the garden scene in floral profusion of colour our love built this sanctuary nothing more for without the love cultivated here this would be only a house made of rock and wood [This message has been edited by X Angel (edited 03-23-2000).] |

Yes Angel, you have painted a beautiful scene. You make it sound so welcoming - built on and maintained by love. Very nice.< !signature--> ...Give me the strength to walk the soft earth, a relative to all that is.... Angel, I could picture this as if I were actually there. How beautiful it must be and the most special part is all the love in and around it. Sheila ...the earth and myself are of one mind. The measure of the land and the measure of our bodies are the same........... Joseph, Nez Perce Chief |

As of right now, this is a dream unrealised. Maybe someday....... *sigh* Thanks Denise...I wish I COULD paint! childomine....isn't that what home should be built on? A mansion means nothing if love doesn't live there too. Munda...you'll do well, practice-practice-practice! Besides you did great on your last attempt. I loved it. Thanks Sasi..I *WISH*!! Someday eh? ~X~ [This message has been edited by X Angel (edited 03-24-2000).] |

Heather ... you'll only know how close you were when i send the pics ...lol: "was this little cottage right off a dirt track three miles from a tiny village near the edge of the highlands of Scotland it was love from the moment we saw the sturdy rock walls" mind you the walls are, shall I say, "lacking" ..lol theres only ONE !! but the view .... whew !! and the edge of the Highlands is spot on! (Thatch is very rare in Scotland though - i think the climate is wrong and its not traditional). The poem itself was marvellous and timely because it's made me even more determined to press on with this "crazy" project ..lol .. I'll keep you informed ..... take care Philip |
