Raise a fist and strike the table. 'Another round to us do bring!' Toast the Lord and all his nobles And to the villeins coppers fling Raise a fist, deerskin sable, And to our host our praises sing, For we've no ill nor petty squabble About the mead the page did bring. So raise a fist and strike the table. 'Another round to us do bring!' Toast the Lord and all his nobles And to the villeins coppers fling. Alicat |

Sounds like a fine idea to me and as it's your round can you make mine a double? Well written words. |

Well, I know this may get me in trouble, but what the hey. There was a Scotsman sitting in a pub in Northern England, quietly sippin on his whiskey. A serving maid came to his table with another pint. When she went and set it down, she just stood there, still as a post. The Scotsman, not looking from his treasured drink said naught. Clearing her throat, the maid hesitantly asked, "Excuse me sir...but oi've always wondered...what do Scotsmen wear under their kilts?" Well, this Scotsman sets down his whiskey, glares up at her and says, "Lass! Ah'm a mon o'few words. Gi'me ya hand." Alicat the Persnikitty As I sit here dimly thinking Watching modem lights a-blinking Churning out poetic hash. Lord, in all Your piety, Help me keep my sanity: Please don't let the modem crash! --Alicat [This message has been edited by Alicat (edited 12-06-1999).] |

Bad Scottish Kitty! (this Irish lass says whilst laughing and pulling a blue ribbon from her pocket) May I never be too busy to help another's load, Then I'll be drinking from the saucer 'cause my cup has overflowed. --Author Unknown |

This lass of Irish decent raises her glass too! I think it's my shout now. Well done The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there IS to celebrate. ~Isis~ (Daughter of Mystery) |

Love this poem! "Toast the Lord and all his nobles And to the villeins coppers fling" Short but very well written. Vivid with a good flow. I could imagine the villeins struggling with each other to be the one to grab hold of the flung coppers!! [This message has been edited by childomine (edited 03-05-2000).] |

Well, I think the poem's appropriate for the Corner Pub even if the story with the Scotsman and the maid isn't...LOL! Great work on this, Alicat! And good luck to you, Munda! Little Spyro T. Dragon |

The chalice in the palace has the brew that is true. Or is it... The flagon with the dragon? ---- My brother used to brew mead in our basement when I was a kid. Man did he stink up the house. Alicat, I've been reading your other poems here too--really nice work. ~Gene |
