People you've been before Watch the dying day With clenched jaw, fists. Angry mothers Lay the blame Perhaps she's deserving Authority here is a joke Rehearsals can wait Real-life comes first Why can't she see that? What right does she have To put bad thoughts in your heads? Guidance here is a joke It's not your fault It's not his fault Don't listen to them You have the right to be mad You have every reason To be mouthy You had the right of way She should have used her brakes. This is based on a real-life incident but not the obvious one, that was just a metaphor. It's actually about these two teachers at my old school, one who told a grade 8 student that it was his fault that his best friend died, another who kicked two students out of a play beacused they missed rehearsals due to deaths in the family and just a bunch of other things that were completely out of line and totally wrong. It just made me really mad but no one actually got hit by a car..... "Be yourself... No matter what they say" - Sting |

I really like this...one thing that really disgusted me when I was in school was when the "authority" figures...teachers...would make unjust decisions and generally there wasn't much recourse for the students. |

~A.H. A trulu impacting and powerful poem you have here, my friend!! This speaks VOLUMES to me!! I think it's so unfair when grown people such as teachers (who definitely should have compassion) make judgement calls such as these. To tell a student that it is their fault, their best friend died...WOAH but that is way out of line! I am glad that you were able to express your anger through poetry! Good poem! Yeah, I couldn't see the last couple lines coming...and don't even get me started on injustices, there's just too many of them... And you put it all into one poem so well, Heather! Incredible poem! ![]() Little Spyro T. Dragon |
