They tumble off the quota pile
we're given every day;
too often we don't even miss
the ones that get away.

It seems as though we scorn the worth
of such a valued trust;
we simply let them slide, and watch
another bite the dust.

Without a sound, they scurry off
to time's recycle bin;
we shrug and never notice that
our quota's getting thin.

Hmmm......Curious  ???
Maybe it's just too late and I need some sleep.

And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.          Wm Wordsworth  (I Wondered Lonely as a Cloud)

Oh I like this Laryalee.. I never really thought about it that much, I guess it IS like having a set quota of moments to spend.. heh, I've let a few slip.. I'm sure most of us have SOME time or another.. this is a thought provoking poem lary, and I enjoyed it immensly.. thank you for sharing..

Wonderful! Make every moment count, and count each as a gift!  Ellie

This is good.  I'm glad you named it though, I read it through first and thought you were talking about our poems.  Joyce

Interesting..interesting!  Much a sense of 'Carpe Diem' in this one!  'Gather ye rosebuds while ye may...'!  Enjoyed this very much.  Thank you for awaking that little part of me that falls asleep in the boredome of my daily routine quite often nowadays!

Very well put.  Time does slip by so fast sometimes.  Would that we could catch all of those moments and savor each and every one of them.

yep my quota is getting too thin thanks for the reminder to not let those moments slip.

Thanks for all your kind responses...

Lynne, I'm like you - lose a few, waste a few...suddenly a week is gone!

Ellie - very wise words, my dear!

Joyce - I think that's hilarious! (I've lost of few of those, too!)

Jamie - Oh, I hope you can write your poetry if you get too bored!

Thanks, Keith - yep, it's easy to say, but not so easy to do!

Songbird, Betty Lou & Denise -  your comments warm my heart!

Hiya Pegasus! So delighted you dropped by!

Moon Dust - I guess all our quotas are getting thin...but sometimes we become more aware of it....

Appreciate all your thoughts!
Lary
