"Dancers"

High tails, wild ponies
red dust stirring under hoof
drums on the desert

swirling in their wake
ghost dancers long forgotten
celebrate the wind

Hauntingly lovely!

A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails.

Thank you so much, ellie & wordancer.
I feel very lucky, to see the wild horses nearly every day.

You are really getting the hang of these!   This is nice. You give me a vivid picture of something I have never seen for myself.

coyote:  I loved this and could really picture the horses.  I lived in the high desert country of Nevada for a number of years and I do miss the horses and wild burros we used to see, plus all the other critters.

coyote...
just couldn't help myself...
carrying over our conversation from my thread, here is my offering for you:

Sad End to An Apology

Forlorn, a small apology
had hopes he'd be accepted;
applying for a steady job,
he often was rejected.

He trundled off in sorrow, fell
into an errant hole;
he broke his humble attitude
and lost his self-control.

Apologies, unused, are such
a waste of careful thought;
but once they change their wistful shape
they can't be sold or bought.

(Just had to get it out of my system, I guess!)
