His 67 El Camino was his second skin. The seat molded right around him, when he settled there within. He fell in love the day he saw it on the showroom floor. I'm not sure he could have said if he loved me or that car more. A quarter of a century, he drove his beloved car. He didn't drive it very hard, he didn't drive it far. It was his little workhorse, and he treated it with care. He didn't notice it was aging, he kept it in repair. That El Camino's now a classic, his driving days are over. Some have asked to buy it, but I just keep it under cover. I'm saving it for our grandson, someday he can restore This little pickup and it will be the way it was before. I wish I were like that car and could be fixed up good as new By removing a few wrinkles, with a sparkling paint job too. To him it didn't matter, for he simply didn't see, The changes that the years had wrought in his pickup and in me. by Joyce 8/6/2000. |

It is a blessing to be seen through the eyes of love. And it definitely saves a lot of money on "restoration"! To love another person is to see the face of God. |

Excellent. I'm glad that my wife don't see me too well either. Melton |

Great read, Joyce. Everyone has their favorite wheels, and this metaphor of "restoration" is very poignant. For what it's worth. When I tell my wife, "You'll always be 18 to me." She smiles. "The only thing new in the world, is the history we don't know." |

Very good Joyce. I think when you truly love someone, so much of who they are inside, is what you see, as well as their outward attributes. That keeps them young! Betty Lou Hebert |
