"Huntress"

Beauty of a graceful doe,
Shining in wooded shadows.

Long-legged lust,
Quiet, cautious, confidence.

Your cunning spirit,
Betroths and consumes me.

Your kiss, night lightening,
Your breath, a sacred song.

Enchanted partner,
Chosen keeper of the arrows,
In my heart.

My huntress lover,
Devouring her prey.

(c) William F. Stocks 2001

I love you, Deanna.
Always and forever.

I may know the truth but not face it
I may hear a sound a whisper sacred and profound
but turn my head indifferent.

Thanks Maree, I appreciate your thoughts. I'm still working on this one, though.

Enchanted partner,
Chosen keeper of the arrows,
In my heart.

I like this whole poem, but these lines were the ones that really grabbed me. This is a lovely and very original love poem.

Thanks Melton,
I see from your profile you probably work the oilfields like me.
Shhh, don't tell anybody we live from extractive industry, it might shatter the image. lol
Of course, all the yuppies who drive their Mercedes to debate the plight of the planet, couldn't get there without us, eh?

So deep...yet kind of mystical and natural at the same time! Wonderfully woven masterpiece...

Very nice emotions invoked here.

How can you save me?

from my front walk and into bed,
where it kisses my face and eats my head. Shivaree
