So, What’s for Dinner? With intricate schedules and webs that we wove It hardly seems worth it to turn on the stove So a scavenger hunt is the usual fare Just open the freezer, you’ll find it right there There’s Swanson and Banquet and a Mrs. Paul’s treat Don’t ever complain that there’s nothing to eat A couple of minutes of microwaved food And you’ll never remember the moments you rued But something came over me just yesterday I cooked a full dinner and went all the way The aroma of food filled the kitchen and halls A succulent chicken within oven walls My son gave a dubious questioning look As though I perhaps didn’t recall how to cook So with no explaination or fanfare I placed A full course dinner in front of his face We were both rather startled at the flavorful meal And savored each forkful with pleasure and zeal In fact , I’m determined to put down my pen And next month I might cook a dinner again Elizabeth Santos |

Damn, I'm really hungry now. So what times dinner again? This piece was really good, *lol*, my mom used to surprise us with her too often hidden culinary skill! *Out to lunch!* |

LOL Right... now I feel guilty. Too oft I do exactly that, while we all enjoy a home cooked meal the most. My kids already thank you, 'cause now I shall cook tomorrow! Great read Liz! |

Liz; This is delighful! What time should I be there for the next chicken dinner? You are a magical poet, the way any subject turns into a poetic dream or should i say, poetic culinary treat! Love, Ellie A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails. |

Elizabeth - Count me in with the freezer full of fast food crowd. It is nice to have a "real" meal once in a while isn't it? I really enjoyed this. To love another person is to see the face of God. - Les Miserables Marilyn |

This was great. A very fun read. I was born myself, raised myself, and will continue to be myself. The world will just have to adjust. I'm in love with my shadow I admire it daily |

Elizabeth~ LOL'ing at this one. I LOVE to cook and spend an inordinate amount of time doing so. Nothing like a house full of delicious smells. My kids laugh at me setting the table for just myself - Yep ... lace and candles and all. Never did get the hang of those microwaveable's. I know ... shoot the show off ! LOL ! Oh, well ... It's nice to know you will be cooking again soon ! *Hugs* ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |
