Listening to every heart

16 Was Long Ago

strands of words were softly braided
through skeins of music recklessly woven
and draped me lovingly in silk, did he
with patterned patter of tender loving

and I will never forget him

soft, then softer, held by his voice
and lost, O lost, there was no choice
and yearn, O yearning, I was quit
forbore I then of any wit

and I will never forget him

heavy lashes hooded soft brown eyes
jet dusk hair softly characterized
his nondescript sense of abject living
but yet he had this way of giving

and I will never forget him

he was such a young man's bad boy
captured females' hearts as his toys
and yes, O yes I fell for his ploy
and the parents, O, he annoyed…

and I will never forget him

there's always one, there's always him
that one who keeps a romance's whim
when strands of words are softly braided
and a love like that will never be sated

and we will never forget them.

You took me down memory lane with this one, thinking of old boyfriends, none of whom was forgotten, but some of whom should be.     Glad you shared this here tonight.

Wonderful poem, but why do you women always fall for the bad boy?

such cherished memories of young love..we all have them I suppose..wonder if they would be shattered like the fragile dreams they are if we were to meet those people today..as we are now..?

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

Suzanne, thank you for going back a ways with me...I don't know that it was a parental thing...more animal magnetism...but you know, he never even looked my way...

Pegasus...most assuredly, your words are more prophetic than you know...

denise, you find me just about anywhere, don't you!...thank you!
