My Son, Daniel who is 7, thinks he is so wise, he knows just how to keep me around forever.
God Bless him.

His body, lean with legs
straight as flag poles
brown dreamy eyes that hold
an innocent stare, a guiltless smile
and a cheeky spark

but oh,
how he loves

and like Saints of old
he does not forget, for
love is a promise and
a promise is love

I smile at his wisdom

Mum, he says
I do not wish to marry
and have children,
to do so, would
make you a Grandmother
and you will become old
and die

he does not know that
old, I will become
and die, I will

I hold back the tears as
his little arms wrap
around my neck,
he kisses me and says
I love you
Mum

I love you too, Son

DarkAngel~
Oh, my ... this is just the sweetest write from the heart of a mother.
Precious renderings from the lips of a child.

'for
love is a promise and
a promise is love'

You've given my heart a hug this morning, Maree~
I thank you.

this is the sweetest thing I've read in a a long time..what a shame it is that we have to grow up and face the harsh realities of life..would that we could remain children forever..remain pure and innocent..as your son is now..

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

Maree, this is so precious! It has brought tears to my eyes as well. Oh the sweet innocence of children. God bless their big hearts!

Dear Maree; How perfectly wonderful! It is always little children who teach us what love is all about...Ellie

Awwwwww Mmy

you know, I can imagine him saying that...and you described his eyes exactly.

One day - he will love this poem, he really will.

Out of the mouths of babes...   What a wonderful son you have.  Very good read!

With a little piece of tomorrow,
You'll have to kiss yesterday goodbye.
Because today won't last forever,
And the past will only make you cry.
