Cold, cold rain Beats down on her But she struggles on Right foot, left foot Almost choreographed Swaying side to side Arms in motion Legs afire They watch her Think she's a moron 'What's she running for?' 'What's the point?' 'Didn't anyone tell her?' But she doesn't hear She keeps in motion Always forward They don't see her Not viewing the magic Nor the beauty Of one so dedicated One who persevered Above the tragedy Out of the sadness Striving hard A smile on her face Along the changing route Her freedom shines The strength beams From her tired body On the Enchanted Path She won't be joined Not here One, Two, Three, Four Her tired cadence Keeps her going When her feelings won't Ignore the pain A beautiful lady Keeping a pace in A tired world [This message has been edited by Wikket (edited 01-06-2001).] |

Thank you Suzanne. This poem comes from deep inside...not just me, but everyone! Trying to keep the pace...it's a tough job, but someone's got to do it! Thank you for your comment! ~~Jamie I mean the opposite of what I say. You've got it now? No, it's the other way. ~Bruce Bennett |

I've never been fond of running, and have often wondered why other people are. Thanks for the insight into one possible reason. Nicely written, too. To love another person is to see the face of God. - Les Miserables Marilyn |

Thanks kcsgrandma...truthfully, I was never fond of running either! In fact, I still don't really like it. Yet, I do it, because in the end I know I can say to myself 'And you thought you couldn't run that far, silly!' Thank you for your comments and trying to understand! ~~Jamie I mean the opposite of what I say. You've got it now? No, it's the other way. ~Bruce Bennett |

if we don't test our own limits..who will? this is a very fine piece of writing.. the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost |

Hmmmmmm...life at its finest..is an uphill climb....at worst...a spiral downward to oblivion....you have shed the light on what keeps everything from falling apart...people like her * points to the poem * ...who just don't stop. kudos Wikket Sol |

pegasus: Thank you! Although it hardly stands up to your masterpieces! Sol: Gracias! Although today, the person in that poem might not live up to her own standards! I guess we all have bad days...but, she wishes it could be a little easier! Thanks again! ~~Jamie I mean the opposite of what I say. You've got it now? No, it's the other way. ~Bruce Bennett |

I thought this poem was pretty powerful and full of depth. A wonderful read for me. I truly enjoyed this one. The title is great too. I was born myself, raised myself, and will continue to be myself. The world will just have to adjust. I'm in love with my shadow I admire it daily |

This poem definitely could be read many different ways - I couldn't help but grin though, at how much it reminded me of my daily trots on the tread. I ask myself 'why' every stinkin' time, and when I'm done, I always know the answer. |

Thank you everyone! I know I have trouble finding the right motivation every day! I'm glad you enjoyed the read?! Who knows, maybe we might meet up someday on the marathon trail (or the treadmills at the gym)! P.S. Dopey Dope...I love your signature! ~~Jamie I mean the opposite of what I say. You've got it now? Hi Jamie, Good to see you again. I enjoyed this very much. Hey, did you know by running in the rain, if you time it just right, you can run in between the rain drops and never get wet. ~Gene |
