Whispers on the wind Soft words lingering in The mist of a starry night The flame that lights up The darkened eyes Of a tortured soul Dancing within the flame Of passions fiery Though never long enough To feel its heat As a delicate hand runs over The heightened fire Its warmth comforting Yet pulling away In fear of being burned The frozen walls that carefully Guard the heart Slowly melt Though the chance to dance within The flame of such passion Slowly dies down to soft licks Of a dying fire For one had missed The opportunity to dare the Eternal flame |
