I wrote this poem for a friend of mine, who, like myself, is in the midst of an emotional break up. We have been occasional friends for a while, and are starting to realize each others presence a bit more as both of our existing relationships come crashing to a halt. What the future holds for us, we dont know, but our feeling for each other grows.

Shelter

I hear the tone
In your voice
Full of pain
I will give you shelter

I see the look
On your face
Writ with grief
Let me give you shelter

I feel the hurt
In your heart
Flowing within
It’s safe in my shelter

I read the words
Your poisoned pen
Proclaims your distraught
Needing my shelter

For in the sanctuary of my shelter
There is no pain
Only guidance and caring
Understanding and love

Come take of my shelter
I will hold you safe from harm

-by Shira.

Shira - What a beautiful, loving offer, one that could only be made by a true friend!  And welcome to Passions.

To love another person is to see the face of God.

Shira~
Hi there !
When friends reach out for one another
it can be very comforting indeed.
Nicely said.

Shira,
Beautiful, comforting words indeed! A wonderful thing it is to have a friend in a time of need. Your caring words are well written. I would also like to welcome you to Passions, DO pull up a chair and make yourself comfortable and tell us more!

Shira, I look forward to reading more of your work here at Passions.  Your friend is very lucky to have you offering "shelter".  Very well put.

Hi Munda.. actually, this poem is about a totally different friend, but interestingly enough, myself and my two friends are all mutual friends. No, but this is about a great guy I know who is dealing with his own demons in regards to his relationship and his future. The pain he has is great, and I wrote this and gave it to him. He loved it.

Thanks for the continued comments.
White Wolf, yes, I think it is especially important for us to be available for the friends as you are... and what a wonderous feeling when our friends allow us to help. I have enjoyed watching this particular person in my life get closer to me, and his reactions have changed as he ahs come to look for the friendship and "shelter" that I have offered him.
