Foundation goes on smoothly
To hide the wrinkly frown
And then a bit of concealor
Hiding truth that I'm down

Next a little eye-liner
To brighten up the white
Add a smudge of eye-shadow
To keep me through the night

Now a dab of blush
Adding color to my face
A bit of lip-liner
To keep my smile in place

Just a smidgen of glue
On the tear-drop by my eye
It's made of glass
Since I've forgotten how to cry

A touch of mascara
I don't need very much
The smoothness of lipstick
Adds the final touch

Now my mask is ready
The world can clearly see
Happiness that I portray
Though it's not really me.

With a little piece of tomorrow,
You'll have to kiss yesterday goodbye.
Because today won't last forever,
And the past will only make you cry.

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

Golly this is sexy.....yet there's abit of tragic twist in it.....forgotten how to cry? now that's real tragic =(
but still, i enjoyed this tremendously! to think that making up can be so poetic...

Its true how we can hide behind a masck and show are best smile even when we realy want a shoulder to cry on. Maykup can hide so much. I am adding this one to my library, I realy want my sis to see it.

Beginnings are scary, endings are usually sad, but it’s the middle that counts.

Since I've forgotten how to cry

crying is healing, believe it or not, it washes you. It is good for you. Please don't forget to cry.

btw, I loved your poem and thank goodness for make-up

This is an interesting twist on the uses of make-up to hide who/what we really are.  Nice write, Angel.
