The rocks beginning to crack
The foundations not gonna last
Don't lean to hard on me
I'm still reeling from what's past

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Friends and family all come to me
I know I'm suppose to be strong
But supporting others in times of need
Has been taking its toll for too long
I've taken all their troubles
And put them in a magic glass
Kept it covered with my hands
So they could find peace at last
I've stood as solid as an oak
When they needed someplace to rest
Kept them sheltered from the world
Helping is always what I've done best
My ears listened to others talk
My eyes kept watch down the road of life
I've cleared the path for many now
So they could walk free without strife
With weather-worn shoulders
I've caught all their tears
Letting them drench me like rain
Drying their eyes for so many years
~ Now who's here to help me through my pain? ~
My ears have started to ring
I can't hear too well
My eyes are getting weary
I'm going blind, but don't tell...
My hands are starting to tremble
I can't keep it hidden for long
The worries are going to run free
Like so many sad country songs
My head is starting to hang low
My shoulders are starting to shake
The weight of the worlds so heavy
I don't know how much more I can take
The oaks beginning to wither
The elements have taken their pay
Oh how I long to just lay down
Instead of stumbling through another day.
With a little piece of tomorrow,
You'll have to kiss yesterday goodbye.
Because today won't last forever,
And the past will only make you cry.
BWA, I had to think a bit before replying to this one, perhaps because it hits pretty close to home for me, not now, but in the past.  You have shown a great insight into the feelings of this withered oak.  I hope it is not you.  Just as the busiest people often get asked to do more, the ones with the greatest burdens often get asked to bear more.  Very well thought and written!  hugs
To love another person is to see the face of God.
