Glowing Fireflies Out on the porch, As the sun disappears, A magical ballet unfolds; Glowing fireflies.. Enchanting little dancers, Slow dancing in pairs, Talented performers; The stars of their show. Shining doll-house lamps, Lighting up the night, Crowding ‘round in cooling air; Cobwebbed porch and broken bulb. A couple break away, Fly off into the night, Zipping past the apple tree, Bumbling out of sight. I wonder how they see their way, When bottoms light their trail, Not in front, behind instead, Showing where they’ve been. Cross-legged in the cold night air, My legs I cannot feel. My eyes are riveted above, Watching lives of light bulbs. Out on the porch, ‘Neath the stars and the moon, A magical ballet unfolds; Glowing fireflies.. -Lynne |

I really enjoyed all of this, and like everyone else, I love to watch the fireflies when they are in season here, but I especially got a smile from I wonder how they see their way, When bottoms light their trail, Not in front, behind instead, Showing where they’ve been.
