Our times are truly remarkable Unlike those ballots once cast, We sought the Election to be over-- Never dreamed that it would last! We also thought the Presidential Debates Were over for good and done, But now we have 'em day in, day out As the process still lingers on. How strange the present turn of events It's History in the making, Stopped to a crawl, Democracy's Clock With suspense our hearts are aching! Who shall be next to Rule the Roost An Elephant or a Donkey? Will Al Gore "beat the Bush"? Or be Gored by all the recounting? Soap Operas eat your hearts out Your scripts lack such sensation, As this "Vote-oh" finish Derby By our "UnPresidented" nation. WOW- another day of life-and here among friends! Ain't God Grand! |

David you've penned a winner, even if this country can't seem to vote on one! This is a gem. I wonder if we're stuck with Bill for another four years while they recount all the votes accross the country! History in the making, that's for sure! Never before have we had a virtual tie where the outcome hinges on one state. I think it's kind of exciting, actually. I suppose it is especially hard for us to have to wait for an answer in this 'instantaneous' age that we have become accustomed to. We usually know who the president-elect is before the polls even close on the east coast. Whoever he turns out to be, I hope they both maintain their dignity and I hope that the loser accepts the loss graciously. Good poem, David! Denise |

Cute poem! I prefer this election for some reason. I don't like them to call a landslide before I vote!! |

David, What a fiasco! A World power that can't even have a smooth transistion of power from one president to the next. We make fun of the "banana republics" and their elections, guess who's laughing now! Well expressed sentiment! Though counts and recounts have forced us to wait In suspense for what seems like forever, It's worth the frustration just to read Your work so exceedingly clever! The candidates offered have caused us to feel A sense of great trepidation. I think we should start all over again, And offer YOU my nomination!
