~Before The Last Leaf Falls~ Cool autumn air nudges a swirling eddy of leaves tickle my feet tempted to play, as in childhood days I kick off my shoes, feeling a bit of a child I sit among once green leaves, now transformed colors of gold, red, and orange Eyeing my cup of apple cinnamon tea I settle in my white wicker chair as steam rises to tease, a tranquil sense pours over me Nearby a Robin sits on branches high waiting for a signal from God to sing knowing the joy it brings Where tall trees grow, early morning mist hides faces of the forest not yet awakened by sunkist hello's a fawn and it's mother hug underneath blueberry shrubs while butterfly kisses touch faces of autumn leaves pretty as crimson flowers A twirling leaf slowing falls to my lap as if to say, won't you stay and play a little longer before the last leaf falls? Wonderful, Blooming Rose. Autumn is my favorite season. You described it so well. Cute animation too! H.H. Joy Gather ye rosebuds while ye may, Old time is still a-flying, And this same flower that smiles today To-morrow will be dying. -Robert Herrick |

BloomingRose~ This is absolutely serenely beautiful. 'Nearby a Robin sits on branches high waiting for a signal from God to sing knowing the joy it brings' What a moment ! I smile knowing that eventually the last leaf of the sycamore will pirouette gracefully to the ground. I hope I'm sitting there to see it. Just loved this one bunches ! ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

WOW, such great detail and imagery in this poem. Made me think of times when I was a kid and I couldn't wait to jump into the leaves after raking them. sounds like a wonderful place to be. P. J. Kotrch carpe diem A soul once touched is a soul once blessed by love |

Marge~ I am glad you enjoyed this, I know you enjoy nature too. Thank you. Lone~ Thanks, Glad you like the imagery. epoet~ Thanks, I agree, as a child what great fun to play in the leaves, although at my house we mainly had pine needles...Florida. Denise~ Thanks, I love the fall season also though we don't have a beautiful season like in the mountains up north. Maria~ Thanks for reading, I suppose it depends on where you live to the degree of autumn enjoyment. I have to use my imagination a lot. Jon~ Thank you, I do have a porch so I get to enjoy the cool weather for a time, I love the change of seasons. |
