If I spontaneously combust, Sweep the ashes under the rug. Trying to control your life Is like trying to fish with stones. Move with the flow of life, Cast shadows in the dark. Some irrational self Is hiding in a cold corner, Waiting for me to make a mistake So it can swallow me whole. I'll value nothing And gain more riches than imaginable. I see Socrates in the Tao, Running around China In a Fumanchu mustache, Emptying minds of what they know So that they might be filled with nothingness. I used to have an opinon, But I gave it up for peace. I used to have a cause; Now I know my revolution is fruitless. Do you want to see the angry God, To watch Him wipe out nations before us? It's sad when a person can no longer be themselves for the sake of someone overbearing. I've been there in the past and it will never happen again. Your poem reminded me of that time and the freedom that I now have. Thanks for the reminder! Great piece of writing too! Denise |

Your work is always thought-provoking. I had to read it repeatedly, and think a bit before answering. It can be frightening to let go of the shadows of the past and step out into the light of day, free. You have to make choices and have opinions there, can't hide in the darkness and wait for someone to tell you what it's safe to do or to think or to say. Nice work.
