Reading about Denise's dream man made me think of this one of mine.

In Her Dreams

In her dreams, he was tall.
To look up at his smile
Was like raising her face to the sun.
A flower was she, seeking his warmth.

His voice was rippling water
Or the wind in the forest,
Ever changing, ever the same,
Reaching the corners of her heart.

When she heard music, she thought of him,
Or did she hear music when she thought of him?
She was not sure, but this she knew-
His song filled her, and she was not alone.

He was bear-like, strong and fearless,
And wise in the ways of his world.
She could not know that world as he did,
But felt drawn there, as to a primal home.

His strong arms reminded her of a tree's branches
And in them she found shelter.
When he drew her close, she smelled the earth,
And she felt safe and at home.

As his beard brushed her cheek,
It swept away the cobwebs
Of past pains and sorrows,
Leaving her at peace.

She hoped never to awaken
From her dreams
For he was there
And he was tall…

I wouldn't mind meeting him in my dreams....maybe I have and just don't remember.....hehehe.....beautifully written, Marilyn! Very lovely!

Jon - Dreams are nice, but reality is better when it works right.  This just didn't happen to.

Thanks, Best and Vicky. He's 6 feet 2 1/2 inches, if you're interested.

I got over him. Had lots of fun writing about him for a while, though, and he's likely to show up in my postings again sometime. Last I knew, he was still looking for a soulmate.

Sweet... I just started dating a guy 6'9".. Kinda very tall.. Specially compared to me.. Anyhow, this poem really reminded me of him because through all the bad stuff that's been going on ((feels like I'm living in the middle of a tornado sometimes)) he just hugs me and it's like I'm anchored down and safe again.. Or something like that.. Very well done..

I really, really like this.
