Inside You I look into your soul And find there my own. You touch me on levels I never knew I had. Is this karma, or magic, An illusion, done with mirrors? Perhaps I shall awaken And find it was only a dream. Not knowing, and fearing, Yet, I look into your soul. |

Thank you, Jon. It can be especially scary when you find yourself reflected back, but yes, intoxicating, too. |

Thanks, Bonnie. I like the idea of being mysterious. I'm usually so out in the open. Maybe this is mysterious just because it's an experience I don't even understand myself. That's why I had to write it. Twilah, you're right. One cannot do this often, or at least I can't. And it is a heady experience when it happens. It must be remembered, though, that those who fly the highest can also fall the farthest. Marilyn |

Ah, short and complete...a fine wondering piece. To take this one step farther, have you ever look deep into your own soul and found something you never knew was there? Now that is scary, as it has happen to me. "Come...dance with me, into my world of words." |

Kaile - This is not an every day experience. I was 49 years old before it happened to me. Give it some time. Thanks for the bump. I do wish you a merry Christmas, but it may be over by the time you see this! Wordancer - Thanks for the thoughtful reply. Yes, you are right. There are some surprising things buried deep inside one's own soul. I think the most wonderful thing about finding yourself reflected in a soulmate is that it can reveal things to you about yourself. Where you may give up little pieces of you for the wrong person (which I have done, and written about, as well - although that does give me an idea ), the right person helps you discover yourself and maybe get some of those pieces back. Thanks for reading and for making me think. To love another person is to see the face of God. - Les Miserables Marilyn |

Dear Marilyn; Merry Christmas! I loved reading this wonderful poem this morning for it is here deep in my soul that my Lord resides, He Who knows me perfectly and little by little is clensing me and teaching me my own beauty. How often He has done this through the eyes of those who care for me as they see the beauty inside and tell me of it. Love, Ellie Belief is a truth held in the mind; faith is a fire in the heart. This is soul-searching---but not in the usual sense! A very interesting & thought provoking perspective. David To put together words & rhyme--and touch a life--is so sublime! Thank God for such precious contact! (D.L.White) |

Pegasus - Thank you. It was a merry Christmas, and I hope yours was, too. I'm romantic enough to think looking into souls is okay. Love means loving even the flaws in the other person. Ellie - You are right. He knows your soul better than anyone, and He often uses others to reach us. In any case, it doesn't take much searching to see the beauty in your soul. Hope your Christmas was merry, too. David - Thanks. It is always good to provoke thought. No, not the usual sense of soul-searching, but not quite unlike, either, since in searching another's soul I see mine.< !signature--> To love another person is to see the face of God. - Les Miserables Marilyn [This message has been edited by kcsgrandma (edited 12-26-2000).] |

"Not knowing and fearing..." yet you are still willing to look. It sounds exciting to seek the truth of who someone is and find that they are the missing piece of yourself. "Work like you don't need money, love like you've never been hurt and, dance like no one is watching." |

childomine - Exciting, yes, but this is a definitely a mixed experience, feeling compelled to look in spite of the fear. Glad you picked up on that. To love another person is to see the face of God. - Les Miserables Marilyn |

Thanks for the kind wishes, Munda. This was written when the magic was very new, and more than a bit scary. Still pretty magical, actually. To love another person is to see the face of God. - Les Miserables Marilyn |
