Inambé… Yó! waku nan kongo… Wa! ama-maleku… Maleku Sá! A old congolese war cry, that lives on, atop that antillian isle. remnants of a day before it was Afro-Cuban heritage, before it just sounded odd Before the sugarcane and before the middle pasage. When all across the mother continent neighboring tribes heard that cry across the jungle, or from a nearby hill. Neighboring feet quivered and nieghboring blood curdled. Inambé… Yó!! |

Actually, I don't know what it means, I've only heard it, and seen this cry performed by Afro-cuban dance companies. |
