I was walking down the sidewalk,
and out of the corner of my vision
a butterfly came to fly beside -
black wings edged in blue.
He swooped low over the street
daring to cross amid the traffic,
but lo, it was too fast for him.
The large gray delivery truck
swelled and loomed above him.
The teeth of the radiator
snapped down on his wings.
I can still hear him scream.

Ack!  Wendy, this poem makes me too sad.  Kind of reminds me of that Toad the Wet Sprocket song, though.

"If you can't annoy somebody, there's little point in writing."
