A cat is a strange creature, not like a dog at all
It doesn't pay attention or hurry when you call
If you offer fish or cream, it sneers in proud disdain
And when you want it to leave, it chooses to remain

I have a cat named Shelby, named by my grandson true
He told a little story, which I'll now relate to you
The cat it was a mangy one, looking for a home
from Queensland came, so said my boy and too far did it roam

so I agreed to feed it, till its master we could find
next thing you know it disappeared, I nearly lost my mind
searching frantically, I found it, seated in my house
and it calmly presented me, with a new caught mouse.

then it disappeared again, to find a family or three
days later I came home to see, it sitting in my tree
it miaowed so plaintively, and I let it in
hiding in the cupboard, showing nothing more than chin

And so this cat has come to stay and Shelby is his name
But whenever I call him, he sneers strongly in disdain
He comes and goes whene'er he will, joint visits family
I suspect I don't own my cat, I think My cat owns me.

"It is the image in the mind that links us to lost treasures;
but it is the loss that shapes the image,
gathers the flowers weaves the garland."-

Kethry,
Ah, yes! The joy of having a cat, or is that the cat has you? An oxymoron, "Quality time with Kitty". LOL Good narrative piece.

cats go where they please love it

Words flow heavily,
A carbon copy of my heart,
As well as my soul.
