Okay, yes, I'm satirizing my own poem, but hey--in my opinion, we're our own harshest critics, and if I can't take this kind of twisting from myself, I can't take it from anyone. "Waking Satire" I live in a waking dream, Where nothing is real but my pen And maybe the guy sitting next to me. Where in this world of shadows Can I find my truth? Probably under the bed Or in the bargain rack on aisle 7. I wander aimlessly through half-built houses Made of playing cards, Mostly because I forgot my map, And I'm too manly to ask for directions. I cry for freedom, And everyone calls for me to shut up From their pleasant shackles. Tatooed on your arm is a heart, And several names are there upon penned And scratched out, Only to be replaced by another. Search for your truth elsewhere-- We're closed for business. GoFor~ I got quite the kick out of this ! ESPECIALLY the admission - 'I wander aimlessly through half-built houses Made of playing cards, Mostly because I forgot my map, And I'm too manly to ask for directions.' Gotta love a guy who would ADMIT it ! Enjoyed the shopping on aisle 7 ! LOL ! This whole piece was wonderfully done. Thanks for sharing. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

Glad you liked it. As for the shopping on aisle seven, I found a great deal on paper towels and tupperware. "If you can't annoy somebody, there's little point in writing." --Kingsley Amis |
