Oh graceful land I've never seen
Your gentle hills of rolling green
Oh lovely land before me spread
Those cobbled paths I long to tread!

Your peaceful pastures - so serene
I yearn to see that tranquil scene
Your dew-kist meadows - clover fills
Your sandstone castles - my heart stills!

And on my mind will ever be
Your rising cliffs, your misty shore
Oh Emerald Isle on the sea
You'll call to me forevermore!

Oh charming land of leprechauns
The 'pot-O-gold', the Blarney Stone
Oh Isle of green - my heart you own
At end of day and when it dawns!

Oh graceful land I've never seen
Your cobbled paths I long to tread
Oh lovely land before me spread
Those gentle hills of rolling green!

Oh Emerald Isle on the sea
Yes, even still, you call to me
Oh Emerald jewel of the sea
Yes, even still, you beckon me!

Denise

This is very enchanting, Denise, and makes me also get in touch with my Irish roots.
Thank you for sharing your lovely desires to visit a seemingly magical place.  David

Denise, this is so wonderful.  I'm so glad you brought it back for us.  Ireland is the only place I'd really like to go someday... the closest I've been so far is the Irish Hills in Michigan.....not quite the same!  Bonnie

oh, Denise, this poem is so incredibly lovely. You have literlly taken a photograph with you magical poets pen, using green ink,, of course! Love, Ellie

Summers haunting melody
that awakens
the butterflies,
calling them to join
the dance
in their silent song
of praise to God.

Thanks, David, Lakewalker, Marcy, Bonnie Ellie and Marge for taking the time to read and for such lovely replies! I was inspired to write this after seeing the photographs from a trip to Ireland by my father and my sister and her family. Absolutely fantastic! Perhaps someday I will get there also!

If you do, Denise, can I come with you?   Great poem here--you should post it next St. Patrick's Day!

I'm mostly of Irish origin, and have always had a longing to go "home"....This strengthened my determination even more.. Very nicely done..

With a little piece of tomorrow,
You'll have to kiss yesterday goodbye.
Because today won't last forever,
And the past will only make you cry.
