Slowly drifting down the way Turning when the currents say Reddish tints that catch the sun Going where the rivers run Dipping with the rapids rage Cracking brown and ripped with age Flowing till its journeys end Scattered with its brethren Soaked and blackened on the shore Glistening dead sleep ever more Cradled gently in my hand Limp and lifeless won't you stand Wet again with drops of tears Now the worst is known of fears Seasons came you bravely fought'em Beauty falls sure as leaves of Autumn. |

great images..been thinking about this a lot lately myself.. the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost |

Thanks you guys for replying to this. When I started out, it was simply going to be just about the leaf...but then everything suddenly seemed as surprsing and unforgiving as life itself, so it seemed appropriate to compare the leaf with beauty and life. Thanks again for taking the time to say something back! |
