the blues echoed across my mind last night to take flight on the wings of a mourning dove’s song at dawn a slow sax blows through, up/down my soul with caress of old sweet notes that ache low drift to enfold, a riff across shattered nerves how pure the melody that croons wearisome times fills the void that lingers, crying in smoky night soft wails, sob into lost memories of a distant sun ancient grief slowly laid to melancholy’s rest future thoughts are born to shade tomorrow’s sorrow as a silver dime is pushed in slow random circles across the scarred wooden table, and the unseen tonic and gin floats in a puddle of ice gently the notes of the sax, haunt the drawn-in night to sigh out the door, a plaintive lament unheard the blues echoed across my mind last night to take flight on the wings of a mourning dove’s song at dawn |

Lady Nogs- Gotta love those dimes! I really like this alot. Not only did I feel 'the blues', but it also took me back a few years. I love the sound of a sax, and actually played one for several years. Thanks for the memories. -vicky "I have read your words, and within them I have found your heart. -vlraynes |

I second the above! 'Great stream-of-cosciousness "feel" to this... 'catching the moment... [This message has been edited by allan (edited 08-03-2000).] |
