we ran through the darkening forest imagining misty elves followed us in that summer all was possible a paradise of innocence filled our lives we laughed, sang and swam mirrored lakes cool pure misty blue in honeyed sunlight feeling the earth between our toes we imagined ourselves true elves friends of tree and stalk, fools to the stars, fate & ferret reborn only so high as the golden corn |
