I let myself be a sailor and thought of tranquillity. Obviously what came to mind was the faraway watchtower.... The Lighthouse - A sailor's symbol of trusted quietitude On high seas settled an eventide At the faraway watchtower looked I, Flashing signals, lending peace inside, Sending Morse's dits 'n das, into the sky The Marathon Runner's rushed breaths, Now quietened, calmed, by timed lights From the distant lighthouse, oppressed By gusty cold frosty winds of the night. A victim of summer's heat, and winter's ice, Or even the fiery raging seas waves' hit Be it a summer equinox or winter solstice, Be it a lovely full moon or her eclipsed bit Many a captain's tranquil thought Lay upon its presence, assurance, That it will always be there, sought To bring out a smile in resonance. Be it a Godly ray or Ghostly wrath Be it an enemy or a friendly ship, The lighthouse shows each its path, To each one, appears a correct blip. Tumultuous thoughts, fears it dispels, A direction to life indeed, it lends, The watchtower serenely compels Me to love my enemy, make amends. ~~~ Peace to all ~~~ Death, be not proud, though some have called thee, Mighty and dreadful, for thou art not so; - John Donne |

Sudhir my breath has been stolen by the beauty of this poem, and rightly so you have excelled with this poem. It is ethereal and dazzling. the plot of our life sweats in the dark like a face the mystery of childbirth, of childhood itself grave visitations what is it that calls to us?" p |

A tower of strength that selflessly glows, regardless of whether it is friend or foe lovely sentiments penned...now if only we mere mortals can be so graciously giving in real life too.... |

Brian, Ethereal and dazzling are two big words for me to take in one stride... I will try.. thanks a lot... kaile, you picked up the sentiments part right... I am very gladdened... Thanks... Lynne, bowing in gratitude for the applause... thanks a lot... jamesjiao, the first time I am seeing your name... actually my mistake perhaps I do not visit this corner much, will do so form the near future... Thanks a lot for reading and your response... I have put up three in the Voices already... thats my quota for now, maybe I will improve upon this and in the next book endeavour I might put this up... What I could do now is thank you profusely for your words... maybe you could read my other works too, which will prove that I am no sailor at all regards to all, sudhir. Sudhir, Just three words my friend . . . I LOVE THIS!!!!!!! Excellent writing!! LW Poetry should surprise by fine excess...it should strike the reader as a wording of his own highest thoughts and appear almost a remembrance. -J.Keats |
