I look around and see These superiors screaming at me And as they scream I wonder If they know not to judge a book by its cover They never took time to listen To see the tears on my face glisten If they took time to know what was wrong Maybe I wouldn't have suffered so long But it's too much trouble to hear So they hide away in fear When they see me coming around They immediately take on a frown And I look at them with blank eyes For they haven't heard my cries For fairness, leadership, and right They are unaware of my fight They accuse me of things I haven't done Then expect me to join in the fun But I will not sink to their level For it would be like joining the devil So I'll carry on the same old way But eventually, they all will pay "I keep breaking all the promises That I keep making to myself You'd think by now that I'd be over this Instead I'm feeling sorry for myself So why does everything seem desperate now? I should be feeling so alive But it feels like something's missing Something's wrong somehow It feels like something deep inside has died..." --Stabbing Westward |

Great Wikket, Do I know what you're talking about! But no, don't go the way of the last line. Find another job with joyful knowing people instead. (They seem scarse now I will admit!) I found a whole lot of resonance in this poem. Why are people (especially business people these days) so blind? Great poem (except for last line - imho) Pity them... Don't punish them... I agree with Allan. Don't waste your energy negatively on people who just aren't worth it. It never fails, the people at the top forget whence they've come. Good poem. I could feel the anger, betrayal and confusion coming from your words. Hang in there long enough to find another place to work. Good luck.
