I drove by your house today Forgot that you're not here Theres nothing left to say No one to lend me their ear It wasn't long ago really That we made plans for summer Now it all seems so silly Will the memories last forever Picked up the phone to call you Just to tell you of my day Started dialing your number, too Then I remembered you went away I see your truck all the time Parked in my driveway forgotten Thought of the talks we had inside And the repairs that never got done Days ago I hung a new door Replaced one Jewel tore through And started to re-do the floor For help I wanted to call you Soon I know I will find I'll get through an entire day Without you crossing my mind Until then I've lost my way I know I'm not the only one Stumbling around confused Seems a cloud has covered the sun Life is lonelier without you Forty-nine days have gone by Seven weeks without your smile Hours pass and still I want to cry Your ghost keeps me company awhile Two weeks ago I drove by the town Where they say your body lies I only managed to slow my car down I'm not strong enough for this goodbye So your memory walks with me Your voice comes softly on the wind I keep trying to set you free Though it hurts, tomorrow I'll try again. I awake to a world I don't want. There is no transition for me. I am in heaven. I am in hell. |

I know the pain of losing a friend you love. I personally, have lost a few too many. There is nothing that can ease the pain of saying goodbye, but, eventually, you will learn to think of all the good things that happened between the two of you. And, it helps, believe it or not. There will always be a hint of the pain in your eyes when you meet someone with the same name, or find a memory of the two of you, but it gets better. I promise, and I speak from experience. There are too many things in this world that could tear your life apart at any given time, don't let this become one of them. If you put all of your hope and trust into God, all things are possible. I change your name to wounded wing angel. Wounds will heal. Poetries not enough to say this kind of pain. But writing helps and puts things in perspective. I tell you this from sad experience you`ll learn to live with it but it never goes away. My brother wrote a song about such a loss and he described the pain as "something like forty days of rain"Your poem a beautiful expressive piece. Keep your pen penning and stay busy. luv forrest |
