December Madness November gray has passed away; It's now December one. Time to turn the lights on bright For our pre-Christmas fun. The houses in my little town Are in a competition To see which one can shine most bright Without a repetition. Santa Claus and the eight reindeer Are climbing towards the sky; While Mary in her bright blue robe Sings a sweet lullaby. Donkeys and sheep and shepherds Are scattered all about. The wisemen with their myrrh and gold Vie not to be left out. Opulence and extravagance in A riot of contention And trees have suddenly become The center of attention. All this is done to celebrate The birthday of our Savior. I wonder if He shakes His head At strange human behavior. He said we should be like children And this time of the year We all become like small children As His birthday draws near. I think perhaps He understands It's just our way to show Gratitude for His Gift of Love Those many years ago. 12/01/04Joyce Johnson |
