it’s the 1st of July the morning air is chill but I’ve a certain feeling of the heat we’ll get our fill by the time noon-day sun rises high above the fill there’ll be dozens of sunbeams blooming flowers dressed to kill grasses will cease their dewiness as breezes will have swept all the dustiness from cobwebs while nocturnals have all slept when the setting in the west sun in weariness goes down every busy little village will be a sleepy little town the moon in its slivering will arise a gentle glow and the stars all a-twinkle will put on a glorious show they will be a random prelude of the celebration found in the patriots of this country as the rockets leave the ground bombs bursting their excitement bright sparklers on display flags raising their contentment to our Independence Day ©July 1, 2002 Whether on the shoal or on the shore, |
